Berlin based company installs Wifi car hotspot in team bus

Bamberg/Berlin March 03, 2012 – The German basketball champion 2011 – Brose Baskets from Bamberg – uses the Wi2U car hotspot to access the internet, while they are on the way to an away game. The Wi2U car hotspot is a product of lesswire AG, a Berlin based wireless solutions vendor for the automotive industry. The Wi2U car hotspot was designed for in-car use allowing up to eight users to simultaneously access the internet via UMTS connection while on the go.

The Wi2U car hotspot has been installed in the Brose Baskets team bus by the lesswire partner Audio Gym at the beginning of this year. The company Omnibus Kramer runs the team bus.

The first usage was pretty simple: just connect to the power supply system, insert a SIM card and log in with a PIN. There is no driver necessary. The Wi2U car hotspot drains power from the cars 12VDC or 24VDC power supply system. It is also possible to connect the hotspot to a cigarette lighter.

An external antenna guarantees good connection also during a high speed drive. The Wi2U car hotspot allows a download speed of 7.2 Mbps as well as an upload rate of 5.76 Mbps.
