Multi-Standard Gateway for Building Automation and Smart Metering Applications

With the HWC lesswire offers OEMs and system integrators a programmable gatway and application server enabling them to implement Building Automation and Smart Metering solutions. With its 868 MHz and 2.4 GHz wireless interface it allows for flexible integration. 

The system offers WLAN, Bluetooth, KNX-RF and Wireless M-Bus wireless interfaces as well as a RJ-45 Ethernet interface. EnOcean and GPRS/UMTS functionality can be added via USB dongle.


Sub-GHz Interfaces

With Wireless M-Bus and KNX-RF lesswire's HWC gateway offers two 868 MHz interfaces, which are well established in building in building technology. Further 868 MHz protocols, such as Z-Wave or EnOcean can be added via USB dongle or be integrated intro the system upon inquiry. This ensures operability with a broad spectrum of readily available sensors and actors.

2,4 GHz-Interfaces

The HWC gateway can establish a connection to a local WLAN broadband router through its built-in WLAN interface. Alternatively the HWC gateways can be used as WLAN access point for WLAN terminals or other HWC gateways. Also Bluetooth devices can be integrated into the overall solution through its Bluetooth interface.

Physical Interfaces

The HWC's RJ-45 Ethernet interface connects the system to a broadband router or LAN network for Internet access. Its USB interface enables access to other wireless technologies, such as Z-Wave, memory extension or M2M Kommunikation through a GPRS/UMTS dongle.

Application Framework

The HWC gateway's application framework is based on Mono/.net 4. The development of applications for the gateway only requires experience in application programming. Deeper embedded or wireless know-how is not required. The application can be hosted locally on the gateway and is therefore also available, when a connection to the internet cannot be established.

Browser-based Configuration

Configuration of the device and upload of new plug-ins is done through the system's configuration page, which can be accessed through any web browser.
